uvrentoh

An independent news and media platform that reports South Africa accurately, quickly and without fear or favour, from a newsroom on Roeland Street in Cape Town.

Our Story

Reporting you can trust, written from the Cape

uvrentoh was started by a small group of experienced journalists and editors who wanted a newsroom that could keep up with the day without ever guessing. From our offices in the city bowl we cover national and Western Cape politics, business and the JSE, film and television production in the Cape, music and festivals, and sport, for readers from Gqeberha to Polokwane.

Every story passes a desk editor before it goes live, and when we get something wrong we correct it openly and say so. We work to the Press Code of the Press Council of South Africa, because speed counts for nothing if our readers cannot rely on what they have just read.

Accuracy

Nothing is published until it has been checked against sources we can stand behind, on the record wherever possible.

Impartiality

We report free of political and commercial interest, and we hold every party, province and boardroom to the same standard.

Reader First

We commission around what South Africans actually need to know, in plain language, in a country with 12 official languages.
